Recent legislation changes in Canada made social network giants such as Meta block media outlets from their platform. In response, we embarked on a journey to create a cost-effective mobile app swiftly and efficiently for Le Pigeon Dissident. This app would allow our client to ensure that their audience would be notified and could access the content, allowing to regain previously lost website traffic.

The Challenge
The specifications for the new application set by Le Pigeon Dissident were stringent.
Low cost: Due to the loss of traffic, Le Pigeon Dissident was looking for a low-cost solution.
No maintenance cost: The solution needed to have no ongoing costs.
Ease of use: The news outlet has no technical members, so the solution has to be easy to maintain without coding
No extra work: Adding a new mobile platform should not require additional effort for publishing an article.
Administration security: Le Pigeon needed to have a secure way to manually send notifications to their audience.

The Solution
The solution chosen by DigitalStation for integrating Le Pigeon Dissident's content into a mobile application was to utilize the Flutter framework for a cross-platform development environment. Additionally, we integrated Firebase as the backend and authentication service, ensuring a robust infrastructure with no ongoing maintenance costs. By leveraging Flutter, we aimed to streamline the development process, creating a cost-effective and user-friendly solution for Le Pigeon Dissident.

The Results
The introduction of the new mobile application, complemented by a well-planned marketing campaign, proved instrumental in Le Pigeon Dissident's resurgence. Designed for accessibility and efficiency, the app facilitated easy access to their content. Noteworthy features, including push notifications, played a crucial role in redirecting traffic to the application. This strategic approach enabled Le Pigeon Dissident not only to recover lost viewership but also to attract new audiences, establishing a vibrant online presence with heightened traffic and viewership.
